June 21, 2017 Paris Air Show: Pratt & Whitney celebrates 30 years of service with the PW4000-94, the first of which was delivered in June 1987. Today, the Pratt & Whitney engine powers the Boeing 747, Boeing 767, McDonnell Douglas MD-11 and Airbus A300 and A310 aircraft. In addition, a variant of the PW4000-94 engine powers Boeing's KC-46 military air fuel refueling and strategic military transport aircraft. Over the past 30 years, more than 70 customers worldwide have used the PW4000-94 engine to power their aircraft; More than 2,500 of the engines have been delivered, totaling 135 million flight hours. The PW4000-94 "fan engine is the first in the PW4000 family of high-thrust engines, delivering 52,000 to 62,000 pounds of thrust. The 180-minute ETOPS certified engine gives airlines operational flexibility and reliability. The advantages of the engine are further improved in terms of excellent performance continuity, extended wing time and reduced maintenance costs.
