/ Aswen Tong/July 26, 2022 -- Guangzhou -- Nano Cap Technology opens up new areas of miniaturization and stabilization to solve capacitance problems

ROHM(headquartered in Kyoto, Japan), a leading global semiconductor manufacturer, provides primary (directly connected 12V battery) power for a wide range of on-board applications such as automotive powertrain systems, body and automotive infotainment systems. Developed vehicle LDO voltage regulator *1 IC "BD9xxN1 series (BD950N1G-C, BD933N1G-C, BD900N1G-C, BD950N1WG-C, BD933N1WG-C, BD900N1WG-C)".

In recent years, with the acceleration of the electronization process of various devices, the number of electronic components installed is also increasing. In order to reduce the size and number of components, there is an increasing requirement to reduce the number of capacitors, which are often used to improve circuit stability. As a result, power supply circuits increasingly need power IC that can work stably even with a small capacitor capacity. However, it is difficult to ensure the stability required for application products with an output capacity of less than 1μF.

In order to solve these problems, ROHM established the ultra stable control technology "Nano Cap" for power IC in 2020. The new product is equipped with Nano Cap technology, which enables the LDO voltage regulator to work stably even when the output capacitor capacity is very small.

The new product is a new line of LDO regulators equipped with ROHM's own ultra-stable control technology "Nano Cap", which supports as low as 100nF(NF). 10 of the negative nine) output capacity, less than ordinary products 1/10, and, in the case of input voltage and load current *2 fluctuations, can also achieve the application products required for stable work (output voltage fluctuation within 100mV: load current fluctuations of 50mA/ 1µsec). The new product supports a wide range of output capacitance, not only suitable for ordinary small MLCCS (multi-layer ceramic capacitors) of several μF and large capacity electrolytic capacitors, but also suitable for the 0603 ultra-small MLCCS below 1μF which are difficult to work stably in previous practical applications. Therefore, it is not only helpful for the miniaturization of components and circuit boards, It can also be used in a wider range of capacitor conditions, helping to reduce design hours.

Samples of the new product have been sold since April 2022 (sample price is 200 yen/piece, excluding tax), and it is planned to temporarily put into mass production with a monthly output of 200,000 pieces from August 2022. In addition, the new products have already begun to be sold through e-commerce platforms such as Ameya360, Sekorm and Oneyac.

Regarding the lineup of products with Nano Cap technology, ROHM plans to expand to 22 products by the end of 2022 and 46 products by the end of 2023, aiming to contribute to solving more problems in the application.
