From June 12th to 14th, InfoComm USA, North America's largest trade show for professional audiovisual and integrated experience solutions, was held in Las Vegas. At the show, Samsung announced the launch of SmartThings Pro and next-generation display technology for its award-winning digital signage portfolio.

At booth W1225, Samsung showcased SmartThings Pro, an evolved version of SmartThings with business capabilities; Samsung's color electronic paper display with ultra-low power consumption, ultra-lightweight, and ultra-thin benefits; interactive whiteboards with new AI-generated capabilities (WAD series); and the new Samsung Commercial TV BED series, an ultra-high definition TV with flexible functions that can be used in a variety of industries. These products were exhibited during the InfoComm exhibition, and to highlight the significant advantages of the products, Samsung also provided product demonstrations and tutorials.

"We are excited to introduce a variety of new solutions, services and products at this year's InfoComm show," said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Division. "Samsung has been at the top of the global digital signage market for 15 consecutive years. Building on this outstanding strength, we will use this event to showcase our latest solutions to meet different business needs."

Color electronic paper display: high-efficiency, lightweight, ultra-thin display for enterprises

Samsung debuted an ultra-low-power display at InfoComm - the Samsung Color E-Paper Display (EMDX model). This new type of signage fuses e-ink with innovative full-color e-paper technology to replace or simulate paper promotional materials.

This new product offers a more environmentally conscious alternative to traditional promotional methods while providing the high-visibility signage businesses need. The Samsung color electronic paper display consumes 0.00W when displaying still images [1], and consumes significantly less power when changing images than traditional digital signage. In addition, managers can remotely control the color electronic paper display to set automatic wake and sleep times to save energy.

The 32-inch screen comes with a QHD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution and 60,000 color gamut (six colors per pixel: red, yellow, green, blue, white, and black). It weighs just 2.9 kilograms and is 17.9 mm wide [2], and can be seamlessly installed in different locations such as walls, tables, and even ceilings without additional brackets. This flexibility allows businesses and advertisers to deploy color e-paper displays in multiple locations to effectively engage audiences while reducing operating costs.

The Samsung color e-paper display also comes with a dedicated mobile app [3] that allows users to easily create or change content. It also supports the Samsung VXT solution for real-time monitoring and remote integrated management of multiple displays simultaneously. VXT CMS Canvas also offers a variety of templates optimized for e-paper displays, making content production in different verticals easier.

In terms of charging and data transfer, the color e-paper display is equipped with two USB Type-C ports and supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. It also has 8GB flash memory, replaceable bezels (allowing users to change the bezel color) [4] and VESA [5] standard wall-mount compatibility [6], providing users with super connectivity, personal customization options, and flexible installation solutions.

The color e-paper panel features the innovative E Ink Spectra 6 ™ technology, a ground-breaking color solution designed for in-store advertising, interior signage, and paper poster alternatives. It features enhanced chromatography and advanced color imaging algorithms to enhance marketing and advertising effectiveness.

"We are excited to announce our partnership with Samsung to launch the innovative 32-inch E Ink Spectra 6 for the signage market," said Dr. FY Gan, President of E Ink Meta-Pacific Technology. "We are committed to creating a better future through display solutions, and this partnership demonstrates that commitment. By combining E Ink's cutting-edge color e-paper technology with Samsung's signage expertise, we will provide low-power color displays that will revolutionize digital promotion and communication while strengthening sustainability strategies."

SmartThings Pro brings a new smart experience to the business environment

SmartThings Pro extends Samsung's hyper-connected smart home technology into the business environment, enhancing sustainability, automating operations and improving the overall business experience. To better support business-to-business (B2B) customers, SmartThings Pro provides customizable application programming interfaces (APIs) for seamless integration. It also features AI Energy Saving Mode, an intelligent power saving technology that reduces energy consumption based on ambient brightness, content analysis and motion detection. This energy saving algorithm can be applied to Samsung products connected to the SmartThings Pro ecosystem.

In addition, SmartThings Pro also allows users to check the connectivity status of various IoT devices through a user-friendly dashboard. The dashboard uses AI to analyze connected devices, helping users take energy-saving measures while using their devices more efficiently.

In addition to personal use, SmartThings Pro will also improve the overall operation of connected devices in corporate environments, such as SMART signage, hotel displays, air conditioning systems, digital appliances, and more. It can also help corporate customers more efficiently manage environmental factors such as temperature, moderation, and lighting by connecting a variety of IoT products. It also integrates sensors such as cameras to enhance monitoring capabilities. These capabilities can help users automate daily configuration and settings, thus improving operational efficiency and sustainability while reducing overall operating costs.

Many of Samsung's partners are already planning to use APIs. Here are some of them:

Cisco showcased API integrations with Cisco video devices at InfoComm and demonstrated how to integrate them with Webex Control Hub for scalable deployments.

Green Rice Lianchuang will enhance the smart hotel experience through cooperation.

Quividi, through its new partnership with Samsung, will use its online data center and VidiCenter to build retail analytics solutions.

"We will further enhance our IoT solutions for the B2B market with SmartThings Pro," said Chanwoo Park, executive vice-president of Samsung Electronics. "Our custom-tailored solutions enhance display performance in public relations facilities such as apartments, residential spaces, schools, and commercial spaces such as retail stores, hotels, and offices. SmartThings not only enhances the performance of these operators, but also reduces costs."

Interactive whiteboards: AI capabilities enhance the learning experience

The interactive whiteboard (WAD series) was first released at ISE [7] and again at InfoComm, with new features including AI generation.

New AI features include automatic transcription of spoken lessons and the ability to generate detailed class summaries that highlight key points and main topics. It can also generate quizzes for students by analyzing teacher transcriptions, written materials on the display, and teaching materials provided. At the same time, it can also use machine learning to improve the accuracy of content and block inappropriate content.

In addition, through a partnership with educational technology company Merlyn Mind, the display will feature automatic speech recognition technology optimized for the educational environment. This will simplify control of the interactive display and help adjust its functionality to match the school's specific curriculum.

Dr. Satya Nitta, CEO of Merlyn Mind, said: "We are excited to partner with Samsung Electronics, a global leader in educational technology and innovation. Samsung has a long history of introducing advanced technologies into the classroom, starting with Chromebooks over a decade ago. We will continue to combine our AI built specifically for education with Samsung's solutions to create more engaging and effective learning environments."

These features will be available on all three different size models later this year, providing more convenient usability and a better contextual learning environment.

Samsung Commercial TV BED: Superior image quality, flexible features

At InfoComm, Samsung also showcased the BED series of Samsung commercial TVs, which offer ultra-high definition (UHD) image quality and flexible features. Available in sizes of 43, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 or 85 inches [8], this TV is suitable for almost any space and is the best choice to enhance the fashion and functionality of various environments. The solution meets the needs of the restaurant industry, education, small or home office and other small businesses.

The product will be available globally in Q3 [9] and businesses can easily manage, schedule, and customize content remotely using the "Samsung Business TV" app on Android or iOS devices. It also supports SmartThings Pro and Samsung VXT for a variety of business needs and delivers realistic clarity with 4K image quality and smooth Facility Management.
