However, the shipping time is not synchronized with the global launch of the new iPhone, and even in recent years, it was only a few months after the new iPhone was launched that production began in India.
However, according to the latest reports from foreign media, the portion produced in India is expected to be released simultaneously on the iPhone 15 to be launched in the second half of this year.
Foreign media reported that Apple plans to ship the iPhone 15 produced in India as soon as this series of smartphones is launched, citing a senior journalist who has been following Apple for a long time. This senior journalist stated that the Indian made iPhone 15 started shipping when it was launched, which will be the first time in the new iPhone and an important sign of Apple's progress in diversifying its supply chain.
However, foreign media also mentioned in their reports that only a portion of the iPhone 15 series smartphones that Apple will launch in the second half of this year will be produced in India, and the vast majority will still be assembled by foundries in China. It is expected that all three models, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, will be assembled in China.
India, with a population of over 1 billion, is a market widely favored by major manufacturers, and Apple is also optimistic about the potential of this market. They have been planning to shift some of their products to Indian production for many years. In 2017, the foundry also began assembling iPhone SE in India to supply the Indian market, and iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and others subsequently began production in India.
Although the iPhone has been produced in India for many years, the iPhone assembled by Apple in India is not synchronized with Foxconn's assembly in China, usually starting production in India 6 to 9 months after the launch of the new iPhone. On the iPhone 14 launched last year, sources revealed that it was only two months after its launch that production began in India.
